Warum ein Brottopf aus Steinzeug?

Weil in einem Brottopf aus Steinzeug Brot und Gebäck viel länger frisch und genießbar bleiben als in anderen Behältnissen und tagelang besser schmecken als sonst.
Das Geheimnis ist leicht erklärt:

1. Die vergleichsweise dicke Wand gleicht Schwankungen der Temperatur aus, im Inneren ist es ein wenig kühler als im Raum.
2. Je zwei gegenüberliegende Luftlöcher lassen die richtige Menge Luft zum Brot, die es zum Atmen braucht.
3. Ton nimmt Feuchtigkeit auf und gibt Feuchtigkeit ab.

In Leinensäcken und hölzernen Brotkästen bekommt das Brot zu viel Luft, es trocknet schnell aus - in Säckchen und Dosen aus Kunststoff bekommt es zu wenig Luft, das wertvolle Lebensmittel schimmelt rasch und wandert oft in den Abfall.

Über diesen wichtigen Gebrauchsnutzen und den Genuß für den Gaumen hinaus bieten die Lips-Brottöpfe aus Ton auch einen Genuß für das Auge - es gibt eine Vielzahl von Farben, Mustern und und das bis auf wenige Ausnahmen in zwei Formen.
Aufgrund der handwerklichen Fertigung ist jedes Stück ein Einzelstück.
Das beginnt bei der Töpferscheibe , geht über das freihändige Ritzen und Bemalen weiter und endet im Brennofen - je nachdem wo der Topf steht, gibt es kleine Unterschiede in den Farben und so entsteht Ihr persönliches Unikat.
Die Salzglasur ist eine seit Jahrhunderten bekannte und bewährte Glasur mit reinem Kochsalz. Durch den Brennvorgang im offenen Feuer - heute mit Gasbrenner bei 1250 Grad Celsius - enthält man Steinzeug besonderer Härte und Festigkeit ohne Poren.
